1)FSSAI launches Project Dhoop to address vitamin D deficiency amongst youngsters:- The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) launched ‘Project Dhoop’ to address rising incidence of Vitamin D deficiencies (VDD), particularly amongst the young people.

The project aims to encourage schools to shift their morning assembly to around noon-time, mainly between 11 am to 1 pm to ensure maximum absorption of Vitamin D in students through natural sunlight.



It has been launched by FSSAI along with National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) as well as North MCD schools.

2)Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR):- ICMR is India’s apex scientific body for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research.

It was established in 1911 as Indian Research Fund Association (IRFA) making it one of oldest and largest medical research bodies in the world.

The ICMR functions unde Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
 It is headquartered in New Delhi. Its Governing Body is headed by Health Minister.

3)Earth’s bedrock: New source of global nitrogen discovered:- According to recently published study, over quarter of nitrogen on Earth comes from weathering of planet’s bedrock.

Carbon sequestration:- It is a natural or artificial process by which carbon dioxide is removed from the atmosphere and held in solid or liquid form.

4)The World Homoeopathy Day (WHD) is observed every year on April 10 to pay tribute to Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, founder and father of Homeopathy.

Homeopathy as system of medicine was developed by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in Germany in 1796.

5)Ban Ki-moon elected as Chairman of Boao Forum For Asia:-

It is a non-profit organisation that hosts high-level forums for leaders from government, business and academia in Asia and other continents to share their vision on the most pressing issues in this dynamic region and the world at large.

BFA is modelled on the World Economic Forum held annually in Davos, Switzerland.

Its fixed address is in Bo'ao, Hainan province, China, although the Secretariat is based in Beijing.

The Forum is committed to promoting regional economic integration and bringing Asian countries even closer to their development goals. It was established in 2001.
