2)Char Dham Project : Char Dham Expressway National Highway is a proposed two-lane (in each direction) express National Highway with a minimum width of 10 metres in the state of Uttarakhand.

The proposed highway will compliment the under development Char Dham Railway by connecting the four holy places in Uttarakhand states includes Badrinath , Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.

The project includes 900 km national highways will connect whole of Uttarakhand state.

News regarding this was that NGT has urgedt the Authorities to stop cutting Trees for CharDham Project.

3)Odisha govt. to collaborate with RIMES for disaster management :- The Odisha government is
set to collaborate with the Thailand based Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (RIMES) for strengthening its early warning services and enhancing preparedness for management of hazards in the State.

ABOUT RIMES:- RIMES evolved from the efforts of countries in Africa and Asia, in the aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, to establish a regional early warning system within a multi-hazard framework for the generation and communication of early warning information, and capacity building for preparedness and response to trans-boundary hazards.

RIMES was established on 30 April 2009, and was registered with the United Nations on 1 July 2009.

RIMES operates from its regional early warning center located at the campus of the Asian Institute of Technology in Pathumthani, Thailand.

4)LaQshya programme :- The Union Health Ministry has announced the launch of LaQshya, a programme aimed at improving quality of care in labour room and maternity operation theatre.





5)World Happiness Index :- World Happiness Report for the year 2018 has been released. The World Happiness Report 2018, ranks 156 countries by their happiness levels, and 117 countries by the happiness of their immigrants.




  • India ranked 133rd, far behind terror-ravaged Pakistan and poorest-of-poor Nepal.
  • India was placed 122nd last year, which was a drop from 118th rank the preceding year.
  • Among the eight Saarc nations, Pakistan was at 75th position, up five spots from last year.
  • Nepal stood at 101, Bhutan at 97, Bangladesh at 115 while Sri Lanka was at 116.
  • China is far ahead at 86th spot.


6)World Economic Forum (WEF) has released the energy transition index as part of the report titled Fostering Effective Energy Transition.

The index ranks 114 countries on how well they are able to balance energy security and access with environmental sustainability and affordability.

The overall list was topped by Sweden, followed by Norway at the 2nd position and Switzerland at the 3rd rank.

India has been ranked at 78th, lower than its emerging market peers like Brazil and China.

7)Jaipur is all set to be one of the co-hosts of the 8th Theatre Olympics, the largest international theatre festival to be held for the first time in India.

The Theatre Olympics was established in 1993 in Delphi, Greece, on the initiative of the famous Greek theatre director, Theodoros Terzopoulos.

8)Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday inaugurated the 5th Nadi Mahotsava at Bandrabhan of Hoshangabad District of Madhya Pradesh.

9)Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address farmers at 'Krishi Unnati Mela' at IARI, PUSA Campus New Delhi  on March 17.

Theme of the fair is doubling farmer’s income by 2022.

''Krishi Unnati Mela” is aimed at creating awareness about the latest technological developments in the agriculture and allied sectors among farmers.

10)1st Mumbai Edition of Women of India Organic festival in Mumbai inaugurated : Ist Mumbai Edition of Women of India Organic Festival 2018, organised by Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal, Maharashtra and with the support of Women & Child Development Ministry, Government of India is inaugurated in Mumbai today.
This year’s theme of festival is “Good for Women; Good for India; Good for You”.
