1)Maharashtra inks deal with Virgin Group for World’s First Hyperloop between Mumbai and Pune.

The foundation stone for the project was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on first day of Magnetic Maharashtra investor summit held in Mumbai.

Hyperloop Technology:- Hyperloop Technology is dubbed as fifth mode of transportation. It is system of magnetically levitating capsules (pods) that are sent at high speeds through low-pressure tubes.

The proposed loop will be a fully electric system and will have the capability travel up to 1,000 km per hour.

It aims to reduce travel time between two mega cities to 20 minutes from three hours at present.




2)Atal Bhujal Yojana: Government formulates ambitious water conservation scheme:- Union Government has formulated ambitious water conservation scheme Atal Bhujal Yojana (ABY) to tackle ever-deepening crisis of depleting groundwater.

The Rs 6,000-crore will be piloted under the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation.

3)Guards get modern weapons to fight poaching:- 

Where has this initiative been taken : Assam

What has been done:-Guards have been given modern weapons like self-loading rifles (SLRs) and 9 MM pistols to check poaching of rhinos, tigers and other wild animals.

‘First time in country’ :- Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said for the first time in the country, 10 wildlife fasttrack courts have been set up to exclusively deal with poaching and other related crimes against wild animals.

4)Myanmar dam on border worries Manipur village:- A dam being constructed by Myanmar across a river close to the boundary with India has stoked fears of submergence and water scarcity among border villagers of Manipur’.

The dam, called Tuidimjang, is on the Twigem river flowing into Myanmar from Manipur.

4)‘Watan ko Jano’:- The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had recently organized the programme “Watan Ko Jano”.

“Watan Ko Jano” is sponsored jointly by Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India (Kashmir Cell) and State Rehabilitation Council Social Welfare Department.

The programme aims to give exposure to the youth and children of Jammu and Kashmir about the cultural and socio-economic development taking place in other parts of the country.

5)National Banana Festival (NBF) 2018 is being held at Kalliyoor, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

6)India is hosting the 8th Edition of Theatre Olympics ‘The Biggest Theatre Celebration of the World’.

 The Theatre Olympics was established in 1993 in Delphi, Greece, as the first international theatre festival. 

With the tagline ‘Crossing Millennia’, this is an initiative to connect the cultural past with the present and future, bringing the richness and diversity of theatre heritage to the experiments and research of contemporary theatre.

The first country to host the Theatre Olympics was Greece.
