1)Some important passes of India :

2)The Competition Commission of India has imposed a fine of Rs. 136 crore on search engine major Google for unfair business practices in the Indian market for online search.

It was alleged that Google was indulging in abuse of dominant position in the market for online search through practices leading to search bias and search manipulation, among others.

CCI is quasi-judicial statutory body established under The Competition Act, 2002.

It was established in October 2003 and became fully functional in May 2009. It aims to eliminate practices that adversely affect competition in different industries and protect interests of consumers and ensure freedom of trade.

3)SpaceX Falcon Heavy, the world’s most powerful rocket, was recently launched from the Kennedy Space Centre in the United States’ Florida toward an orbit near Mars.

The mission is a test flight, pioneered by rocket firm SpaceX which is helmed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

4)Vinay Sheel Oberoi committee:-Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has constituted a 13-member advisory committee to monitor and expedite capital acquisition projects for the modernisation of the armed forces. The committee is headed by Vinay Sheel Oberoi.

5)In a bid to conserve the dwindling rhododendron species of Tawang, a rhododendron park is being established in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.

6)India ranks 44 in US Chamber’s Intellectual Property Index:- India was ranked 44th out of 50 countries in the Intellectual Property (IP) Index released by US Chamber of Commerce.



7)Janadriyah: Sushma Swaraj inaugurates Saudi Arabia’s National Heritage Festival:- King Salman bin Abdulaziz in presence of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj inaugurated 32nd edition of Saudi Arabia’s National Heritage Festival in Janadriyah village, Riyadh. This year India is guest of honor country.

Saudi Arabia is India’s fourth largest trade partner after China, US and UAE.

8)The first (inaugural) edition of Khelo India School Games (KISG) was held from from 31st January to 8th February.

It was held under the Khelo India Programme and aimed at providing an excellent launchpad to the country’s young and promising athletes to showcase their talent at the national level.

Haryana had emerged as overall champions, finishing with 102 medals, which included 38 gold, 26 silver and 38 bronze medals. Maharashtra finished second with 111 medals(but 36 golds). Delhi Came third.



9)NITI Aayog has released a comprehensive Health Index report titled, “Healthy States, Progressive India”.

The report has been developed by NITI Aayog, with technical assistance from the World Bank, and in consultation with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

The report ranks states and Union territories innovatively on their year-on-year incremental change in health outcomes, as well as, their overall performance with respect to each other.

10)The government has launched a Web based monitoring System and a Fly Ash mobile application named ASH TRACK. These platforms will enable better management of the ash produced by thermal power plants by providing an interface between fly ash producers (Thermal Power Plants) and potential ash users such as – road contractors, cement plants etc.

Maharashtra was the first state to have a Fly Ash Utilization Policy.

11)The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, in collaboration with the Environmental Sanitation Institute and Tata Trusts, has developed a Sanitation Park in New Delhi.

12)The 21st Indian Birding Fair is happening at the Man Sagar Lake, Rajasthan. This year, this fair is dedicated to the White Naped Tit bird, which is quite rare in Jaipur and are at the verge of extinction.
