1)Trump regime suspends security aid to Pakistan:- The U.S. on Thursday said it was suspending most of its security assistance to Pakistan until it “takes decisive action against groups, including the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani Network.”

2)T.N. tops GER in higher education:- Tamil Nadu has emerged as the leader in the country in terms of Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education.


  • The All India Survey on Higher Education report (2016-2017) has released this Data.
  • HRD Ministry has released this DATA.
  • Lowest GER was found in Bihar.
  • Gender Parity Index (GPI): India registered its best performance on the GPI in last seven years — 0.94 in 2016-17 from 0.86 in 2010-11. GPI is calculated as quotient of number of females by number of males enrolled.


3)PRADHAN MANTRI ROJGAR PROTSHAHAN YOJANA :-

•PMRPY is a central government initiative to encourage enrolment of new employees under Social Security Network. This will provide assured security to the workforce and relief to the employer.

•Government pays 8.33% EPS contribution for the new employees. 

•For selected sectors of Garment industry, complete 12% contribution of the employer paid by the government.

•Scheme applicable for new employees drawing monthly salary of up to Rs. 15,000.

•Easy to operate through online enrolment and Aadhaar.

4)According to Reserve Bank of India (RBI), India’s foreign exchange (Forex) reserves have scaled to fresh record high of $409.366 billion as on December 29,2017.
