1)Government launches Rapid Reporting System for the Scheme for Adolescent Girls:- The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) has launched beneficiary module (i.e. Phase -1) of Rapid Reporting System (RRS), a web based on line monitoring for Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG).

The RRS portal will facilitate monitoring of SAG and take corrective measures by ensuring faster flow of information, accurate targeting of beneficiaries and reduction of Leakages.

It has been developed by Ministry of WCD in collaboration with National Informatics Centre (NIC).

2)Padma Awards Announced:- 

Padma Vibhushan :- 
i)Music composer Ilaiyaraaja,
ii)Indian classical musician Ghulam Mustafa Khan and 
iii)P.Parmeswaran, a senior RSS ideologue from Kerala, will receive Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian honour in the country.



Padma Bhushan:- Late Russian ambassador Alexander Kadakin, who served in India from 2009-17, will be given the Padma Bhushan posthumously.

Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni will also be given the Padma Bhushan.

Other sportspersons honoured include Pankaj Advani who will get the Padma Bhushan.

Some Padma Shri :-Tennis player Somdev Devvarman from Tripura, badminton player Kidambi Srikanth from Andhra Pradesh, weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu from Manipur and paraOlympian Murlikant Petkar from Maharashtra, will be given the Padma Shri.

3)Multiple chief guests, a first for Republic Day:- 10 leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are coming as guests in this years Republic Day celebrations(69th Republic Day of India).

Some Other Facts For this Years Republic Day:-


  • Interestingly, an India-ASEAN tableau will also form part of the Republic Day parade.
  • All woman BSF contingent on motorcycles will be showcased.
  • India’s longrange subsonic cruise missile Nirbhay will be showcased for the First time.
  • The weaponised Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH), Rudra, will also be part of the fly-past for the First time.
  • For the First time, there is tableau from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and from All India Radio.


Ashok Chakra := Jyoti Prakash Nirala, who died ghting militants in Kashmir, will be given highest peacetime gallantry award posthumously



4)Bharat Parv’ being organized as part of Republic Day 2018 Celebrations from 26th To 31st January, 2018 Red Fort, Delhi

Parv to Generate Patriotic Mood, promote rich Cultural Diversity of India and to Ensur Participation of General Public.

Bharat Parv is being organised by the Ministry of Tourism.

5)SARAS PT1N:- Upgraded indigenous transport aircraft makes successful maiden flight :- SARAS PT1N, the new upgraded version of indigenous transport aircraft SARAS developed by National Aeronautics Laboratory (NAL) successfully made its maiden flight in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

SARAS PT1N is a 14-seater passenger aircraft designed and developed by CSIR-NAL, a frontline aerospace research laboratory.
