1)India Ranked 177 in Environmental Performance Index (EPI):- India has been ranked 177 among 180 countries in the Environmental Performance Index (EPI) – 2018.

This index has been developed by Yale University and Columbia University in collaboration with the World Economic Forum and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. 

Top 5 countries are Switzerland, France, Denmark, Malta and Sweden

Top bottom 5 countries are Nepal, India, Congo, Bangladesh, Burundi.


2)Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi K Palanichamy receives UNESCO Award:- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanichamy received UNESCO Award of Merit awarded to the iconic Srirangam Ranganathaswamy temple in Tiruchirapalli.

3)Flagging off the 8th National Voters Day Celebrations scheduled to be held on 25th January 2018, Election Commission of India (ECI) today hosted a one-day International Conference on the subject ‘Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in the Election Process’ in New Delhi.

4)‘Fraud cases in India surged 21% in 2017’ :- This is as Per the Kroll Annual Global Fraud & Risk Report 2017-18.

Country saw highest global incidence of fraud in 3 categories:
i)Theft of physical asset or stock (40%), 
ii)IP theft, piracy or counterfeiting (36%) and 
iii)corruption and bribery (31%).

5)First India-designed vaccine passes WHO test:- For the first time, a vaccine conceived and developed from scratch in India has been “pre-qualified” by the World Health Organisation.

The Rotavac vaccine, developed by the Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech Limited last year, was included in India’s national immunisation programme.

What Does Pre Qualification Means:- To be “pre-qualified” means that the vaccine can be sold internationally to several countries in Africa and South America.
