1)Malimath report:-
A 2003 report of a Committee
on reforms in the criminal justice system that recommended admissibility of confessions made before a superintendent of police as evidence in a court of law.
The Malimath Committee was formed by Home Ministry in 2000.
News is that the Govt. is going to revisit Malimath report.
2)Haj subsidies to be phased out:-
This has been done as per Afzal Amanullah Committee and 2012 Supreme Court order asking that subsidies (cheaper airfare+ food+ medical) for the Haj be phased out by 2022 and the money saved (around Rs. 450 crore annually) diverted to more welfare oriented activities like educational empowerment of girls from minority communities.
SC cited Holy Quran that says Hajj should be taken up only if a Muslim can afford it.
Earlier government allowed Muslim women above 45 years to go on Hajj without "Mehram" (male company) in a group of 4.
3) Sikkim's unique way for preserving trees- Mith/Mit/Mitini
People can associate with trees on private/public land by entering into Mith relationship as a friend.
They can preserve them in remembrance of a departed relative- Smriti tree
They can be adopted as his/her child- Adopted tree
