1)Arunachal declared open defecation-free State.

Arunachal Pradesh has emerged as the second State in the Northeast, after Sikkim, to be declared Open Defecation Free.

Othere than these two , Kerala and Himachal Pradesh have already been declared open defecation free.

2)National Register of Citizens:-Assam, which faced influx from Bangladesh since the early 20th century, is the only state having an NRC, first prepared in 1951.

Now why Assam is having such register of citizens: NRC in Assam was updated in 1951 and since then lakhs of illegal migrants from Bangladesh have entered its territory.

This is now being done on the directives of Supreme court so as to identify the illegal migrants and the real citizens of Assam.

What was the News:- The much-awaited first draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) was published with the names of 1.9 crore people out of the 3.29 crore total applicants in Assam recognising them as legal citizens of India.

3)Online portal ‘NARI’ :- In a path breaking initiative to empower women, the ministry of Women & Child Development has launched an online portal NARI.

The portal aims to provide women citizens with easy access to information on government schemes and initiatives for women.

The portal contains information about schemes being run by both Central as well as the States Governments.

4)e-Samvad:- It is an online platform for NGOs and Civil Societies to interact with the Ministry of Women & Child Development.

Launched by the Ministry of Women & Child Development.

Through e-Samvad portal, NGOs and civil society can provide their feedback, suggestions, put up grievances, share best practices etc.


5)India and Pakistan recently exchanged, through diplomatic channels simultaneously at New Delhi and Islamabad, the list of nuclear installations and facilities under a three-decade old bilateral pact.

This is the twenty seventh consecutive exchange of such a list between the two countries, the first one having taken place on January 1, 1992.




6)China has developed a new underwater surveillance network in the Indian Ocean to help its submarines get a stronger lock on targets while protecting the nation’s interests along the maritime Silk Road, which includes the Indian Ocean.

7)Parker solar probe:- NASA’s Parker Solar Probe is scheduled for launch in 2018 to explore the Sun’s outer atmosphere.



The primary science goals for the mission are to trace how energy and heat move through the solar corona and to explore what accelerates the solar wind as well as solar energetic particles.

8)Retrotransposons:- They are the recently identified special genes which could help Symbiodinium adapt more rapidly to heat stress.

Symbiodinium is a unicellular algae that provides its coral host with photosynthetic products in return for nutrients and shelter.

It is like Zooxanthalae whose expulsion will cause the Coral Bleaching.

9)India's Largest Rooftop Solar Plant is in Amritsar.
Recently India's Second largest Rooftop Solar Plant has been commissioned by GAIL in Uttarpradesh.

10)Saudi Arabia and UAE introduced VAT in order to narrow down the deficits.
The Rate has been taken as 5%.
