1)Pradhan Mantri Mahila Shakti Kendra (PMMSK):- 

Mahila Shakti Kendra is envisioned as a one-stop convergence support service for empowering rural women with opportunities for skill development, employment, digital literacy, health and nutrition.

It will aim to improve declining child sex ratio, ensure survival and protection of the girl child, ensuring her education and empowering her to fulfil her potential. 

It will provide an interface for rural women to approach the government for getting their entitlements and for empowering them through training and capacity building.


2)15th Finance Commission:- Article 280 of the Indian Constitution deals with the Finance Commission.

Its primary job is to recommend measures and methods on how revenues need to be distributed between the Centre and states.

The Constitution provides that Finance Commission shall consist of a Chairman and four other members to be appointed by President. '
The Chairman or members are eligible for reappointment.

•The recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission are valid upto the financial year 2019-20


3)Niroga Bal Varsha :
Jharkhand government has declared the year 2018 as Niroga Bal Varsha to fight against malnourishment.

5)The Home Ministry has proposed an increase in the number of seats in the Sikkim Assembly from 32 to 40. The expansion will be the first since the State merged with India in 1975.

The seats are being increased to accommodate people from the Limboo and Tamang communities, notified as the Scheduled Tribes in Sikkim in January 2003.

•Sikkim has 12 seats reserved for Bhutia’s and Lepchas.

So it was found that Limboo and Tamang were not adequately represented.

Lets see wht happens because in the Delimitation Act of 2002 it was said that readjustment can only take place after 2026 with the date of Census after 2026.

6)India has sent a proposal to United Nations for declaring the year 2018 as ‘International Year of Millets’. The proposal, if agreed, will raise awareness about millets among consumers, policy makers, industry and R&D sector.

7)In a major milestone, the Brahmos supersonic cruise missile has been successfully test fired for the first time from the Indian Air Force’s frontline Sukhoi-30 MKI combat jet against a sea-based target in the Bay of Bengal, significantly bolstering the country’s aerial prowess.

BrahMos is a joint venture between the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) of India and NPOM of Russia.

The Brahmos cruise missiles have an effective strike range of around 290-300 km.



8)YONO:- State Bank of India, the country’s largest public sector bank, has launched a unified integrated app called YONO (You Need Only One) that would offer all kinds of financial and lifestyle products.



9)About DANX:

What is it?

The exercise conducted under the aegis of Andaman and Nicobar Command, is India’s only operational tri-services command.

The main objective of the exercise is to practice & validate procedures and drills of all the Command forces aimed at defending Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

The five- day crucial Defence of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Exercise (DANX) recently concluded.


10)National Law Day: 26 November.
     Constitution Day: 26 November.

12)The 12th meeting of Standing Committee of Inter-State Council was held in New Delhi. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the recommendations of the Punchhi Commission on Centre-state relations. The meeting was chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

Interstate council Inter State council is a constitutional body under Article 263 of the constitution. It was established by Presidential Order dated 28th May, 1990 on recommendation of Sarkaria Commission. The purpose of the Interstate council is to facilitate coordination between states and the centre.

13)The Communal Harmony Campaign Week was observed from November 19-25, 2017 by National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH).

NFCH is an autonomous organisation under Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). It organises Communal Harmony Campaign coinciding with Qaumi Ekta Week.

It promotes communal harmony and strengthens nationa; integration. NFCH under its Project ‘Assist’ provides financial assistance for relief and rehabilitation of children rendered orphan or destitute in communal, ethnic or caste, terrorist violence.
