MAINS QUESTIONS FOR THE DAY :-

1)Why India needs to focus on Textile and Apparel Sector? What is its present status? What steps has the government taken to promote Textile Sector?

2)What is Artificial Intelligence? What are the various dimensions where it can be used in India?

1) ODD EVEN Called Off:- 
Why ??:- There were various exemptions in the odd even scheme. NGT called that there should not be any exemption. This was the main reason that the scheme was called off.

The NGT was established in 2010 under the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010 for effective and expeditious disposal of cases relating to environmental protection and conservation of forests and other natural resources.

India is the Third country to have NGT. Australia and New Zealand were the first two.

2)Since the Pollution is a burning topic... Lets understand some of the Pollutants :-

I)SMOG:-It is an Air Pollutant. SMOG= SMOKE+FOG. 

Causes:-

Coal fires, used to heat individual buildings or in a power-producing plant, can emit significant clouds of smoke that contributes to smog

Traffic emissions – such as from trucks, buses, and automobiles – also contribute.Airborne by-products from vehicle exhaust systems cause air pollution and are a major ingredient in the creation of smog in some large cities.

Natural Causes:- An erupting volcano can also emit high levels of sulphur dioxide along with a large quantity of particulate matter; two key components to the creation of smog. However, the smog created as a result of a volcanic eruption is often known as vog to distinguish it as a natural occurrence.


Photochemical SMOG:- Photochemical smog is the chemical reaction of sunlight, nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds in the atmosphere, which leaves airborne particles and ground-level ozone.

This noxious mixture of air pollutants may include the following:

  • Aldehydes
  • Nitrogen oxides, particularly nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide
  • Peroxyacyl nitrates
  • Tropospheric ozone
  • Volatile organic compounds.

3)Stents were in News :- In medicine, a stent is a metal or plastic tube inserted into the lumen of an anatomic vessel or duct to keep the passageway open, and stenting is the placement of a stent.

Purpose can be to be used in Heart for Proper Flow. Also used in the Urinary Bladder for flow of urine.



4)Debjani Ghosh to be first woman President of NASSCOM in 2018:- 
The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) has named Debjani Ghosh its president-designate. She will succeed R Chandrashekhr.

NASSCOM is global non-profit trade association (organisation) of Indian Information Technology (IT) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry. It facilitates business and trade in software and services and encourages the advancement of research in software technology.

5)The Ministry of Women and Child Development will celebrate the Child Rights Week (Hausla 2017) from 16th to 20th November, 2017.

The country celebrates the Children’s Day on 14th November and the International Child Rights Day is celebrated on 20th November every year.

The period between the two important events will be celebrated as Child Rights Week by WCD Ministry by hosting an Inter CCI Festival for the children who reside in Child Care Institutions (CCIs).
