1)India’s ambitious Zero Hunger Programme through interventions in farm sector will be launched on occasion of World Food Day (October 16) with focus on agriculture, nutrition and health in a symbiotic manner.

The Programme will be initiated by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in association with Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), MS Swaminathan Research Foundation and Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council(BIRAC).


2)Sashastra Seema Bal to get intelligence wing:- The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has launched the SSB’s first ever intelligence wing.

  • SSB is one of the Central Armed Police Forces which is under the control of MHA.
  • It was Created in 1963 as Special Service Bureau.
  • It is responsible for guarding India’s international borders with Nepal and Bhutan.


Other CAPF's are ITBP, BSF, CRPF and CISF.

CAPF is different from Indian Defence Forces(Army, Navy, Air Forces,ICGS)
Defence forces are under Defence Ministry.

The border with Nepal touches Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim and the border with Bhutan touches Sikkim, West Bengal, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh(  TRICK:- SAAB , here B is for Bengal).



3)Jharkhand Government has launched Shaheed Gram Vikas Yojana aimed at developing villages of freedom fighters in the state.

It was launched from Ulihatu Village, birth place of freedom fighter Birsa Munda.

4) Suggestion given for State-funding of Elections:-

Who has suggested :- Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) T S Krishnamurthy has pitched for state-funding of elections, as part of electoral reforms.

What is state or public funding of elections? :-

This means that government gives funds to political parties or candidates for contesting elections. Its main purpose is to make it unnecessary for contestants to take money from powerful moneyed interests so that they can remain clean.

  • This can help in solving the Problem of Crony Capitalism.
  • Increase Transparency

Arguments against state funding:-

  • It may increase the number of Bogus Parties to increase just in order to get the State Funds.
  • Still India has many Problems like in Health , Hunger and Education , so before solving them we can not afford to give money to political parties in order to contest elections.

6)Sardar Sarovar Dam(Narmada Dam Proect):- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated world’s second biggest dam Sardar Sarovar, 56 years after its foundation stone was laid by former PM Jawaharlal Nehru.

Which is the Biggest :- The Grand Coulee Dam in the United States.

As per the arrangement, the power generated from the Sardar Sarovar Dam will be shared among Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

About 57% of the electricity produced from the Sardar Sarovar Dam would go to Maharashtra while Madhya Pradesh will get 27% and Gujarat 16%.

7)Government invites startups for Northeast Venture Fund:- The Ministry of Development of Northeast has invited start-ups from all over country to avail benefits of Northeast Venture Fund in a bid to make Northeast India favourite destination for young Startups.

8)Tech Giant Google’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) based digital payment service Tez (meaning fast in Hindi) was launched by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi. With this, Google become latest international giant to enter into India’s fast growing digital payment ecosystem.
