1)Indian Institute of Science (IISc) researchers from Bengaluru have developed a highly sensitive, low cost nanometre-scale carbon monoxide (CO) sensor.

CO is a colorless, odorless gas. 
It is harmful when inhaled in large amounts The greatest source of CO is internal combustions (IC) engines of cars, trucks and other vehicles or machinery that burn fossil fuels.

Breathing high concentration of CO reduces the amount of oxygen that can be transported in the blood stream to critical organs like the heart and brain.

An all-women team of researchers from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has developed a new drug delivery platform using nanoparticles.

The nanotechnology-based drug delivery system has ability to boost the efficacy of antibiotics at the cellular level and improve chances of recovery from cancer-related bacterial infections.


Both of these Points are useful for writing an answer regarding Nano Technology !!


2)The National Handloom Day is being observed every year on 7 August to honour the handloom weavers in the country and also carter an impetus to India’s handloom industry.

This year it was third edition of the National Handloom Day after it was instituted in 2015.

Handloom sector contributes to nearly 15% of the cloth production in the country and also contributes to the country’s export earnings. 95% of the world’s hand woven fabric comes from India.

3)The Centre in association with the National Legal Service Authority (NALSA) today launched ‘Tele-Law’ scheme in Bihar with an aim to provide an opportunity to the common man to access legal aid easily.

Under the scheme, villagers can have access to legal consultation with the help of para legal volunteers at Common Service Centre (CSC) which will be equipped with computers and Internet facility.
A person in need of legal aid can get consultation through video-conferencing at a CSC from empanelled lawyers of district and State legal service authority.

₹30 will be charged for the legal consultation, but in case of BPL people, this amount would be returned to their account.

It is similar to Tele Medicine, Tele Education etc...

About NALSA:

  • NALSA has been constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, to provide free legal services to weaker sections of society.
  • The aim is to ensure that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen by reasons of economic or other disabilities.

Important functions performed by NALSA:=

NALSA organises Lok Adalats for amicable settlement of disputes.
NALSA identifies specific categories of the marginalised and excluded groups and formulates various schemes for the implementation of preventive and strategic legal service programmes.

4)What to use if not Chemicals in Firecrackers?:-The Supreme Court ban on the use of antimony, lithium, mercury, arsenic and lead in the manufacture of firecrackers to prevent air pollution has turned the focus on what chemicals are used to produce spectacular visual effects and noise.



5)Vice President Election:-

As per article 66, the candidate contesting for election of Vice-President of India should fulfill the below conditions:


  • He must be a citizen of India
  • He must have completed age of 35 years
  • He cannot hold an office for profit.
  • He must be qualified to become a member of Rajya Sabha.


Like Presidential election, election of vice president is held via system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote {indirect election}. However, Vice President is elected by Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs.
The MLAs or MLCs have no role to play here. 

The term of office of the Vice President is five years.
The term may end earlier by resignation which should be addressed to the President.

Removal:- The term may also terminate earlier by removal. The Vice President can be removed by a resolution by the members of the Rajya Sabha.
To move such resolution, a 14 days’ notice is to be given.  Such a resolution, though passed by the Rajya Sabha only, but must be agreeable to the Lok Sabha.

There is no need of impeachment of Vice President for removal.
