1)Madhya Pradesh to devise Happiness Index:- 

The Madhya Pradesh government, however, has tasked the Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur with finding a quantifiable answer to that eternal question — what constitutes happiness and how happy are people really.

The Madhya Pradesh Govt. is the First State to set up the Anand Mantralaya or the Ministry of Happiness.

India logged in at a dismal 122nd spot in the World Happiness Report for 2017.

2)A Team of Researchers have found bergenina phytochemical isolated from tender leaves of sakhua or shala tree (Shorea robusta) to reduce the effect of the TB Bacteria Load.

3)Madhav Chitale Committee Recommends Measures for De-silting Ganga:-

Salient Recommendations:-


  • The committee has recommended a series of measures that includes creation of sand registry for de-silting of the Ganga, study to guide de-silting activities and establishment of a technical institute to conduct the sediment budget
  • The committee has recommended for the establishment of an institute for flood routing studies.
  • Establish annual sediment budgets to guide de-silting activities.
  • The area freed from the development in the form of oxbow lakes should be used for flood moderation rather than reclaiming it for other purposes.
  • Agricultural practices along the river flood plains should be such that it does not disturb the passage of flood by increasing the resistance to flow causing aggradations.



4)Indian teen from Tamil Nadu develops world's lightest satellite for NASA, names it 'KalamSat'.
Rifath Sharook, an 18 year old student from Pallapatti in Karur district in Tamil Nadu, developed the lightest working satellite ever.

The four-centimetre cube(3D Printed) satellite weighs 64 grams and includes sensors to measure temperature and radiation levels, among other data.
