1)West Bengal Chief Minister makes Bengali compulsory in schools :-

News is not important but related to this we will learn some Constitutional Provisions Related to Languages:-

Article 350A :- Facilities for instruction in mother-tongue at primary stage.

"It shall be the endeavour of every State and of every local authority within the State to provide adequate facilities for instruction in the mother-tongue at the primary stage of education to children belonging to linguistic minority groups."

The President may issue such directions to any State as he considers necessary or proper for securing the provision of such facilities.

Article 351 :- Directive for development of the Hindi language

"It shall be the duty of the Union to promote the spread of the Hindi language, to develop it so that it may serve as a medium of expression for all the elements of the composite culture of India."

2)Southern Bird wing Butterfly Chosen as the state Butterfly of Karnataka.
Karnataka has became the second state to officially designate the state Butterfly.
Maharashtra was the first one to have Blue Mormon in 2015.

Jingoism is nationalism in the form of aggressive foreign policy.
When Extreme Patriotism takes the Form of Aggressiveness it is called Jingoism.

4)India’s ‘Ujala’ to light up UK homes:- Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal recently launched the Ujala Scheme related to the energy efficient LED bulbs in London.

Objectives:-
The main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduce electricity bills and help preserve environment.

Implementation agencies:-
The Electricity Distribution Company and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) a public sector body of Government of India are implementing the programme.

Eligibility of acquiring LED bulbs:-
Every grid-connected consumer having a metered connection from their respective Electricity Distribution Company can get the LED bulbs at about 40% of the market price under the UJALA Scheme. Consumers also have the option of paying for the LEDs in equated monthly instalments.

It is a Open-Cast Mine.

What is an Open Cast Mine:- Open-pit, open-cast or open cut mining is a surface mining technique of extracting rock or minerals from the earth by their removal from an open pit or borrow.

This form of mining differs from extractive methods that require tunneling into the earth, such as long wall mining.
