1)Endangered dholes to run free in Eastern Ghats:- 
About Dhole :- They are Protected under Schedule 2 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and listed as ‘endangered’ by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). They are also called Asiatic Wild Dog.

The Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP)in Vishakhapatnam (A.P), running a conservation breeding centre for the species, plans to reintroduce a pack of 16 into the forests.



2)BrahMos missile achieves rare feat:- Again a Successful Launch of Land Attack Cruise Missile Variant of the BrahMos.

The missile is capable of being launched from land, sea, sub-sea and air.

Brahmos is the result of Joint Collaboration of India and Russia.

3)Package to resolve NPAs gets Cabinet nod :- 

What will Package do?:- The package, which includes an ordinance to amend the Banking Regulation Act of 1949 to empower the Reserve Bank of India to take more actions to check bad loans.

Some issues with the Banking Sector :- The economic survey of 2016-17 has pointed out the twin balance sheet problem — that is, stressed companies on one hand and NPA-laden banks on the other — and advocates that a centralised Public Sector Asset Rehabilitation Agency (PARA) be established to deal with the problem of bad loans.

4)Govt. mulls changes to UDAN scheme to attract more players:- 

What is UDAN: Regional Connectivity scheme.
Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik.

What are the Proposed Changes:- Allowing single-engine aircraft to fly under the scheme, increasing route exclusivity for airlines and higher subsidy for helicopters among others are some of the proposals which may be considered.

6)Cabinet approves National Steel Policy 2017 :-

Key features of the NSP 2017:-


  • 1.      Create self-sufficiency in steel production
  • 2.      Encourage adequate capacity additions,
  • 3.      Development of globally competitive steel manufacturing capabilities,
  • 4.      Cost-efficient production
  • 5.      Domestic availability of iron ore, coking 


Some highlights of New Steel Policy

Ø  The Indian steel sector has grown rapidly over the past few years and presently it is the third largest steel producer globally, contributing to about 2% of the country's GDP.  India has also crossed 100 MT mark for production for sale in 2016-17.

Ø  The New Steel Policy, 2017 aspires to achieve 300MT of steel-making capacity by 2030. This would translate into additional investment of Rs. 10 lakh Crore by 2030-31.

7)Cabinet approves New Central Sector Scheme – SAMPADA (Scheme For Agro-Marine Processing And Development Of Agro-Processing Clusters) :- The SAMPADA is a comprehensive package to give a renewed thrust to the food processing sector in the country.

SAMPADA is an umbrella scheme incorporating ongoing schemes of the Ministry like Mega Food Parks, Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure, Food Safety and Quality Assurance Infrastructure, etc.
