1)Museum of Weights and Measures:-The first museum of weights and measures in the country sits in the Chamarajpeth market area of Davangere, Karnataka. Called Tula Bhavan.

The museum entered the Limca Book of Records in 2016.

2)Australia's visa policy is a concern for India :-

Background :- Recently Australia started the 457 Policy.

What is 457 Policy :- Scrapping of the “457” visa policy that benefited skilled Indian IT workers.

As part of the new policy, the tenure of the visas was to be reduced from four to two years. The notification also announced an increase of visa fees.

3)Shikara Boat Festival is held in the Dal Lake of jammu and Kashmir.

Shikaras are a type of wooden Boat.

4)‘Vidya-Veerta Abhiyan’ (Knowledge-Valour Campaign):- Colleges and university campuses across India will soon see “walls of heroes”/‘Wall of Valour’ being erected to reinforce respect for war veterans and martyrs in young minds.

Under the campaign, universities will set up walls measuring 15X20 feet featuring portraits of the 21 awardees of  the Param Vir Chakra, the highest wartime gallantry award.

5)Madhya Pradesh will be the first State to switch to the January-December financial year from the present April-March cycle.

6)India will unveil a new series of Index of Industrial Production with a base year 2011-12 on May 9 with an aim to map economic activities more accurately.

Core Industries have the weightage of 38% in IIP.
Electricity has the Highest weightage among the Core Industries.
IIP is calculated Monthly by CSO.
Earlier Base Year was 2004-05

Core Industries : - These are Electricity , steel, refinery products, crude oil, coal, cement, natural gas and fertilisers.
