1)Flying to become paperless soon:- The Government is working on a DigiYatra plan to allow paperless travel for air passengers, including digital boarding passes at airports.

The Centre is looking to make either Aadhaar or passport mandatory to book air tickets so that passengers needn’t carry a printout of the ticket or document proof while entering the airport.

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport,Hyderabad has started the PILOT For this Aadhar Based Identificatipon.

****2)AIDS control programme running blind without enough testing kits :- 

A very important Article with many Possible Prelims Questions.

The Article basically tells us about the scarcity of Testing Kits especially Viral Load Test Kit.
The reason for this shortage is : that there are no takers of Govt.'s Tender for manufacture and distribution of Kits.
In simple words Govt. is not getting Bidders.

Now Some Very Important Points From the Article.

i)In a policy shift, the Health Ministry started a ‘test and treat’ policy for HIV patients. This would entitleevery person who tests positive for HIV to free treatment.

ii)Health Minister announced that India will soon develop a National Strategic Plan for HIV for next seven years and these seven years will be crucial for ending AIDS.

***iii)There are two HIV tests:=

  •      The ELISA Test :- which detects infection, and      
  •      Viral load test:- the HIV’s RNA in an infected person.Viral Suppression is the Ultimate aim     of Treatment.

iv)India is party to a UNAIDS programme under which it must implement the ‘90-90- 90’ strategy:= Under the 90-90-90 Strategy we have 3 important Points 

  •  Diagnose 90% of HIV-infected people in India; 
  •  Put 90% of cases on ART(Antiretroviral Therapy); and 
  •  achieve viral suppression among 90% of the ART recipients

The Target Year of 90-90-90 Program is 2020.

6)Internet link issues may delay GST:-
Background:- Cetre wanted to Roll Out the GST From 1st of July but Poor internet Connectivity especially in the North East regions is coming in between the advancement.

Why Internet is Crucial for GST Rollout:- The implementation of GST requires high-speed connectivity between the GST server and the State VAT data centre, and also between District VAT office and State VAT office since the processing of returns,among other processes, is done online.

Another Issue ,There is also a problem of a lot of time being taken by Border Roads Organisation in giving Right of Use (ROU) permission in case of damaged cables.

Remember one thing Here : BRO is under Defence Ministry and it also constructs roads in some of the neighbouring countries.
So These are some Hurdles that may come in between the rollout for now.

7)India is set to formalise a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union.

EEU (Eurasian Economic Union) :- The Eurasian Economic Union comprises Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.


The FTA is expected to open up a huge market with a trade potential of $37 to 62 billion.

Currentlyy Trade between India and the five Eurasian countries stands at about $11 billion.

8)New diabetes app forecasts blood sugar levels:- Name of the App is Glucoracle.
It uses a technique called data assimilation and keeps a check on the Blood Sugar levels.

9)A safer alternative to lithium-ion batteries:- Scientists have developed a safer alternative to fireprone lithium-ion batteries, which are common in household devices such as smartphones and laptops.

What is the Alternative :- Researchers at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) developed the nickel-zinc (Ni-Zn) batteries.
