1)U.S. hits Afghan IS base with ‘largest’ bomb:-

Name of the Bomb:- GBU-43, which is the largest non-nuclear bomb.

It was the first Time USA has used a Bomb of this Size.

Where the Bomb was Dropped :- Achin district of Nangarhar province, close to the border with Pakistan.

Also known as the “mother of all bombs,” the GBU-43 is a 21,600 pound 9,797 kg GPS-guided munition, and was first tested in March 2003

2)Swine flu virus (H1N1) was in News because it led to nearly 33 Deaths in Pune.

3)Conduct NEET in Urdu in 2018-19: SC :=In a big  relief to Urdu medium students, the Supreme Court directed the Centre and the CBSE to induct Urdu as a medium of language for NEET 2018-19.

This Change will not be implemented in this Year's(2017) NEET Test since there is now not enough time and the changes can not be made in such a short Notice , So the Changes will begin from 2018.

4)Today is 14th April , The Birth anniversary of Bhim Rao Ambedkar.

He was the Chairman of the Drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly.
Related to Mahad Satyagrah in 1927.
His Famous Newspaper was MookNayak.

5)Rolls-Royce, DRDO to tie up:-India and the U.K. on Thursday agreed to cooperate on developing advanced defence products such as high-end gas turbine engines and air defence missile.

Vikrant trial in 2018:=India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier Vikrant is in an advanced stage of construction and will be launched for sea trials by 2018-end.

6)Russia vetoes UN motion on Syria attack:- 

Background:= There were Reports that Syrian Govt. of Bassar Asad has used Chemical Warfare.

So What was the UN Resolution:-The Resolution would have condemned the reported use of chemical weapons in a town in northern Syria and demanded a speedy investigation.

But Since we al know that there are 5 permanent Members of UNSC i.e P5 := USA, UK, Russia, France, China, They have veto power.

So Russia used its Veto Power and ended the Resolution.

7)RBI tightens norms on bank performance:= The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has come out with a revised prompt corrective action (PCA) framework for banks.

What has been done under PCA:= RBi has set up 3 Thresholds(Minimum vaue).

The thresholds are based on
capital,
net non-performing assets,
profitability and leverage ratio.

First Breach:= CAR Falls Below 10.25% / 2 Consecutive Years of Negative ROA / NPA 6%
Second Breach:= CAR Falls Below 7.75% / 3 Consecutive Years of Negative ROA / NPA From 6-12%
Third Breach:= Net NPA Goes Above 12% / 4 Consecutive Years of Negative ROA 


The breach of the first threshold will invite restriction on dividend distribution or require parents of foreign banks to bring in more capital.

Second Breach will mean restrictions on expansion of branches and higher provisions.

Third breach on capital “would identify a bank as a likely candidate for resolution through tools like amalgamation, reconstruction, winding up etc
