1)Channakeshava temple in Belur turns 900:- Masterpiece of Hoysala architecture.
The temple was constructed by Vishnuvardhana of Hoysala dynasty and is a monument recognised by the ASI. It was built between 1106 AD and 1117 AD.
Hoysalas were ruling the Areas of Modern Day karnataka. Belur is in Hasan District of Karnataka.
2)Larger Bench on anti-defection case:=
What is the Question in front of the Larger Bench of Supreme Court:=Will the anti-defection law apply to MPs and MLAs expelled from their parties?
Background := Twenty-one years ago, the Supreme Court concluded in G. Viswanathan versus Hon-’ble Speaker, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly 1996 case that a legislator expelled from his party shall be deemed to have “voluntarily given up” his membership of that party which got him elected or nominated him to the House.
This legal fiction of deeming him to continue in the party post-election as an “unattached member” makes him therefore vulnerable to disqualification under the Tenth Schedule (antidefection law) of the Constitution.
SO What is the Issue Now := Under the Viswanathan judgment, the expelled legislator would still be susceptible to the “whims and fancies” of the leaders of the party which threw him out despite the fact that subsequently, after his expulsion, he had gone ahead and formed his own political party.
So The Question is Still alive today !! Now The SC will look into status of expelled legislators with regard to Tenth Schedule.
About 10th Schedule:= 52nd Constitutional Amendment Act : 1985
Before Anti-Defection Law, 10th schedule was related to association of Sikkim with India.
3) Second Link of the SAUNI PROJECT was Launched by PM Modi.
What is SAUNI YOJANA:- (Saurastra Narmada Avataran Irrigation) Yojana .
SAUNI Yojana is multipurpose project that aims to solve the water problems of a parched Saurashtra region of Gujarat. Saurashtra region faces acute water shortage.
Technically, SAUNI is a ‘linking’ project where the water will be filled in irrigation dams that are already equipped with canal network. 4 Links will be Developed in this Project.
Yesterday Link II was inaugurated.
4)Prakash Javadekar launches Portal and Mobile App of RUSA:= Launched the unique portal and mobile app of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), a body under the aegis of the Ministry of Human Resource Development here in New Delhi.
5)ABOUT CBFC:= The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) (often referred to as the Censor Board) is a statutory censorship and classification body under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
It is tasked with "regulating the public exhibition of films under the provisions of the Cinematograph Act 1952".
Films can be publicly exhibited in India only after they are certified by the Board, including films shown on television.
Currently There are 4 Categories:-
U :=Unrestricted Public Exhibition
U/A:=Parental Guidance for children below the age of 12 years
A:=Restricted to adults
S:=Restricted to any special class of persons
