1)SC seeks response on plea for reining in cow vigilantes :=

Background := A PIL has been Filed in the Supreme Court to declare all cow vigilantes as "Extortionists" and to put an end to their atrocities against Dalits and Minority Communities.

Most of the time these cow vigilantes act in an ruthless manner and beat innocent Dalits and Minorities in the name of cow Protection.

This is indeed very wrong.

A Bench led by Justice Dipak Misra issued notices to Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh and asked them, along with the Centre, to file their written responses to the PIL petition for initiating criminal action against the vigilante groups.

Some States have very extraordinary Laws to save these Cow vigilantes which should not happen For Example:=

3)‘Difficult to meet BS-VI deadline:- Automobile Makers have told the Supreme COurt that it will be difficult to adhere to the strict Deadline to start the BS-VI because of the Technological Issues.

Background:- 1st April 2020 has been fixed as the Deadline for initiating the BS-VI (Bharat Stage VI).

Let's See in Detail What are the Technological Issues:-  i) Selective Catalytic Filter which is a separate part has to be fitted in the vehicles.

ii)SCR used an aqueous Solution of AUS-32 for reducing Nitrogen Oxides, so throughout the country we will need a separate infrastructure for re-filling AUS-32 like Petrol Pumps.

All these Changes in itself need 3-4 years and thus the deadline of 1st April looks improbable.

4)HCs told to appoint independent public prosecutors in POCSO courts:-

What is POCSO :- It is act of Parliament named Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012.

What the Supreme Court Said:- It directed High Courts to initiate steps to appoint independent public prosecutors for POCSO courts meant for trial in sexual offence cases against children.

Trial by an independent Public Prosecutor is under Section 32 of the POCSO Act.

Also SC directed the High courts to create necessary inrastructure in order to create Child-friendly Atmosphere.

5)Ken-Betwa link hits green hurdle:- India’s apex forest advisory body has imposed tough conditions on the Ken-Betwa river interlinking project.

Background:- Ken- Betwa River Interlinking Project which would pass through and submerge the area of Panna Tiger Reserve.
There were many environmental Callenges associated with the Projects thus it needed various Clearance.
A forest advisory clearance was seen to be the last step before the project was to begin.

What is FAC(Forest Advisory Committee):- The Forest Advisory Committee (FAC), the apex environment ministry authority that clears requests for diverting forest land for projects, usually rejects or recommends a proposal, sometimes with conditions, for the diversion of forest land.

The Recommendations of FAC are passed to the Forest Minister who can either accepts them or reject them.

One More Very important Point := Since in this case Land of Panna Tiger Reserve is diverted for the Project, MP Govt. offered 8000KM Square Area which is at present non-Forest. But FAC has said that this land offered is not up to the mark and is very fragmented.

So Lets wait what decision is taken in Future, still the Picture is not very clear.
