1)Judges choose work over vacation:- For the first time in recent legal history, the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice of India J.S. Khehar, will have three Constitution Benches functioning simultaneously, along with the usual vacation Bench.

What is the Meaning of Constitutional Bench ?:- Constitution bench is the name given to the benches of the Supreme Court of India which consist of at least five judges of the court which sit to decide any case “involving a substantial question of law as to the interpretation” of the Constitution of India.

2)Nuclear bids on track, says Westinghouse:-
Westinghouse is a US based nuclear power company formed in 1998, TOSHIBA Group is the Majority Shareholder.

Background:- WestingHouse was given the Project of making 6 rectors in Kovvada in Andhra Pradesh.This was the first commercial agreement to be concluded under the India-US civil nuclear deal singed in 2008.

Recently Westinghouse Filed for Bankruptcy in US.
Bankruptcy is a legal proceeding involving a person or business that is unable to repay outstanding debts.

So After it filed for Bankruptcy ,it was unclear whether it would be able to take up the Indian Reactors Project and other Projects.

So What the Company has Said now after Filing for Bankruptcy:- Westinghouse’s operations in Asia will not be affected by its decision to file for bankruptcy in America.

3)Centre picks ive airlines to connect 43 regional airports:-

Background : The Govt. announced a Scheme for Regional Connectivity , named UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagarik) So that Smaller Locations can be connected with Flights with Prices upto Rs.2500/Hour flights.

So For this Bids were invited from various Airlines.

Bid winners:- SpiceJet, Alliance Air and regional airlines Turbo Megha Airways, Air Deccan and Air Odisha Aviation won the rights to operate lights.

Subsidy on losses:- As per the scheme, the Centre will subsidise the losses incurred by airlines flying out of dormant airports to help airlines charge ₹2,500 for an hour’s flight to passengers.

80% of the subsidy will be collected by charging a levy of up to ₹8,500 on each departing flight of domestic airlines and the rest 20% will come from the respective State governments.

4)Board moots EPF for unorganised sector:- 
What has Happened?:- The Central Board of Trustees (CBT) of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) on Thursday recommended to the Centre to extend social security benefits to more than 61 lakh workers in the unorganised sector.

What Will it do ?:- It will Provide Social Security Benefits to the volunteers of various schemes workers i.e. Anganwadi, ASHA, Mid-day Meal Workers etc under the ambit of EPFO.

At Present There is no mandatory social security cover for workers in the unorganised sector.

EPFO was Set up with Employees’ Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952.
Central Board of Trustees is a statutory Body under this Act.

5)India Declares Its "Association" Status with The International Energy Agency :- India Gained Association Status with IEA.
The IEA which covers the entire spectrum of energy globally, will play an important role in India’s energy security context. With enhanced cooperation with the IEA, India would be able to play a more visible and influential role in the future global energy governance landscape.

6)The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, will dedicate to the nation, India’s longest road tunnel – the 9 kilometre long “Chenani – Nashri Tunnel” – on April 2nd, 2017.

The tunnel on NH-44 which connects Jammu with Srinagar, will reduce travel time between the two cities by upto two hours.

Key Features of the tunnel:-
• It is a single-tube bi-directional tunnel, with a 9.35 metre carriageway, and a vertical clearance of 5 metres.

• There is also a parallel escape tunnel, with “Cross Passages” connecting to the main tunnel at intervals of 300 metres.
