1) Some Constitutional Powers again Questioned in the Recent State Eections of Manipur and Goa.
Background:- These two state have the Case of Hung Assembly where no party had enough seats to form an independent Government.
In both these states COngress has emerged out to have more seats than BJP.
What is the Isssue :- Even After Getting Lesser number of Seats BJP is Claiming to Form the Government. In case of Goa the Governor has already asked BJP to form the Govt. and show the majority.
So Now the Congress is claiming this as breach of Governor's Power, Plus it says the Party winning the highest number of seats should be asked to form the Government First.
Though an Urgent Petition in the Supreme Court has been Filed by Congress , which the SC has agreed to hear.
QUESTION:- Should the Governor give first opportunity of Making the GOvt. to the Party winning highest number of Seats or is he justified , if he asks party with lesser number of votes to form govt. ??
2)Bhavani River Issue :- Bhavani is an interstate River in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Originating from the Nilgiri Mountains. It is a Tributary of Kaveri River.
What is the Issue:- Earlier the Check Dams were allowed by the Cauvery Water Board and the award wa later ratified by the SC. So the State is carrying out the Work of constructing minor check Dams.
Tamil Nadu is opposing to this construction and says:= Bhavani was a tributary of the Cauvery, and any diversion from it should be decided on the basis of inter-
State conciliatory talks.
3)Scotland seeks to exit U.K. : A new Plea will be submitted in the scottish Parliament Next week.
4)Sabarimala to become national pilgrim centre:Travancore Devaswom Board is awaiting the nod of
the Union government to declare the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple a national pilgrim centre.
It is in Kerala.
