The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) is an index for India which details out the growth of various sectors in an economy such as
mining,
electricity
and manufacturing.
The IIP is compiled and published every month by Central Statistics Office (CSO) of the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
The Eight Core Industries comprise nearly 38 % of the weight of items included in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP).
These are
1)Electricity ,
2)Steel,
3)Refinery products,
4)Crude oil,
5)Coal,
6)Cement,
7)Natural gas
8)Fertilisers.
